Trivillion vs Jackbox vs Kahoot: which trivia party game is best?

Quick answer: For a party, Trivillion is free and offers the widest variety of games, with AI suggestions of what to play next; Jackbox Party Packs cost about $25 to $30 each and need a TV or computer screen, with players joining on their phones; Kahoot is built for a host showing questions on a big screen and is free for up to 10 players.

Three different ideas of a party game

All three let a group play trivia together, but they work in very different ways. Jackbox is a paid video game: you buy a pack, run it on a TV, console or computer, and everyone joins on their phone with a room code. Kahoot is a quiz-hosting tool: a host prepares or picks a quiz, shows it on a big screen and players answer on their phones. Trivillion is a free games site, with an app on the way, that combines party games such as White Lie and Imposter with daily games and a large quiz library, and uses AI to suggest what to play next.

Trivillion is our own site. We compared it with the others as fairly as we can; prices were checked in October 2026.

Trivillion: free, AI-powered and the widest variety

Trivillion is built around AI. It learns which games you play most and suggests new ones you are likely to enjoy, so the suggestions get better the more you play. It also has the most modern interface of the sites we compared and the widest variety of game types, with an especially large range of geography and sports games.

Trivillion’s party games are designed for a group sitting together. In White Lie, each player secretly writes a fake answer to a real trivia question, then everyone votes for the answer they think is true. You score two points for finding the truth and one for every friend fooled by your lie. Players set up their names and avatars and choose three, five or seven rounds. Imposter, No Words and Don’t say it add social deduction and describe-the-word games.

Beyond party games, Trivillion has daily games, more than 50 quizzes and a wide range of geography and sports games, and it uses AI to suggest games based on what you play most. The whole site works in Arabic, which suits family gatherings across generations.

  • Pros: free, AI game suggestions, widest variety, modern interface, Arabic
  • Cons: no drawing games yet

Jackbox: polished games for a TV

Jackbox Party Packs bundle five games, such as trivia, drawing and writing games. One device runs the game on a screen everyone can see, and players join from their phones by visiting jackbox.tv and entering the room code. Most games take up to 8 or 10 players, and many let up to 10,000 more people join as an audience, which is popular with streamers. Each pack costs about $25 to $30, and you need the right pack for each game you want.

  • Pros: very polished, everyone plays at once, big audience mode
  • Cons: paid per pack, needs a screen everyone can see, English-first

Kahoot: best when someone is hosting

Kahoot shines when there is a clear host, such as a teacher or a team leader. The host shows questions on a projector or TV, and players answer by joining with a game PIN. Players never pay. The host’s free plan allows up to 10 participants per game on personal accounts; paid personal plans start at about $3 a month billed yearly for up to 50 players.

  • Pros: easy for big groups, huge library of ready quizzes
  • Cons: needs a host and a shared screen, less suited to small groups of friends

How a game night runs on each

With Trivillion, open the site, choose a party game and its categories, add the players and start. A first game can start in under a minute. With Jackbox, start the pack on a TV, console or computer, choose a game, and ask everyone to open jackbox.tv on their phones and type the room code. With Kahoot, the host signs in, picks or builds a quiz, starts it on a shared screen and players join with the game PIN.

For a casual night at home, the quickest start matters most. For a big event with an audience, a shared screen gives everyone the same view.

Which works best for families

Families with children and grandparents need short rounds, simple rules and a language everyone is comfortable with. Trivillion’s games work in English, Arabic, Spanish and French, which makes them easy to bring to a family visit. Jackbox has family-friendly settings in many of its games, though its packs are English-first. Kahoot works well when one adult hosts a quiz written for the family.

Which should you choose?

Choose Trivillion for an evening with friends or family when you want variety beyond trivia, AI suggestions of what to play next, or games in Arabic. Choose Jackbox if you already have a console or PC connected to a TV and want polished games where everyone plays at the same time. Choose Kahoot when one person is leading a quiz for a class, an office or a large event.
